Why our specialists can be trusted

Trusting your child, or something personal, to a person you have never met is always a little frightening. So we try to show as much as we can about every specialist before you send that first message.

The people they helped speak for them

Reviews are written by people who have already worked with this specialist. What makes them useful is the detail: «brought my daughter's maths up a whole grade in six months» tells you far more than «a good teacher».

And if a review looks too good to be true, you can ask its author about it. Under every review there is an «Ask the reviewer» button: the question goes to them by email, and their answer appears under the review for everyone to see. If the author left only a phone number and cannot be written to, support takes the question instead.

It is clear what the person does

The profile lists services, specialisms and formats. You can see in advance whether they take children or work with adults, whether they prepare people for exams or give consultations — so you do not spend an evening writing to people who were never a match.

You can ask before you start, not after

Nothing stops you writing to a specialist beforehand and asking everything you want to know — about their schedule, the price, how they actually work. That way the first meeting is a calm decision rather than a leap into the dark.

Reputation here cannot be bought

On most directories the people shown first are the ones who paid for the position. Here the order is different: the higher you are, the more people have thanked you. Buying a place in the listing is not possible.

On other aggregators the specialist pays for a client's contact details, and only that client can write about them afterwards. Nor can anyone lift themselves by pushing others down: there are simply no bad reviews here, so there is nothing to sink a neighbour with.

So the rating here is made of thanks and nothing else: no bought places, no editorial scores, no negative reviews. The one thanked more often stands higher — and where the count is equal, the one thanked more recently comes first.

Here a review can be left by anyone the specialist helped — and it is written by a person, not bought as a line on a price list.

And reviews cannot be faked into existence

First, to be clear: asking your own students and clients to write about you is normal and right — they are exactly the people whose word matters here. This is about something else: about collecting praise from people who were never there.

Such an attempt shows here, and this is why. One person can leave a specialist only one review: write a second and it replaces the first. So ten reviews mean ten different people said thank you — not that one person wrote ten times.

Under every review it says who wrote it: since when they have been on the site and how many reviews about specialists they have left. It is not a score and not a suspicion — just facts you can judge for yourself. Someone who has been thanking different specialists for two years and an account opened today look different, and the difference needs no label.

And a review from a client who found the specialist right here — pressed «Choose this specialist», left their contact and only then wrote — carries the mark «through a request on the site». The site adds it from its own records; it cannot be drawn by hand.

We will not promise that faking a review is impossible in principle — nowhere is that true. We promise something else: here it is visible and pointless. Real experience is recognised by its detail — the months, the subjects, the changes nobody could invent — while invented praise makes do with general words. And general words are the easiest thing of all to spot.
